Many of us equate core strength with our society’s coveted “six-pack abs,” but the true core of the body involves far more than the superficial rectus abdominus muscle. Your chain of core muscles is critical to your posture, breathing, movement, and attitude, whether in your yoga class or in daily life. In this series, you will explore the many muscles comprising what we call “the core,” including the powerhouse psoas muscle. You’ll strengthen your abdominals in new, creative ways, building support for your low back and more space for your breath. By developing a deeper connection to your physical and emotional core, you’ll find more empowered movement from within. Turn that love-hate relationship with core work into a love-LOVE!
For students with at least 3 months of yoga experience.
